Ajanta and Ellora Caves Travel Itinerary
Two days is plenty of time to take in both of these two UNESCO World Heritage sites. The nearest city is Aurangabad, and hence will be your base. To be honest, there is not a lot else to do and see other than the caves, but that is fine!

Recommended Hotels
Taj Vivanta Aurangabad

- Aurangabad is not spoilt for choice in terms of hotels! Luckily this is a decent option.
- There are a couple of restuarant options and the swimming pool was very welcome after a hot day exploring the caves.
- The hotel Mughal-inspired architecture and lush gardens creates a palatial ambiance… although it is a little past it’s best.
Trip Highlights
- Kailash Temple. For us the Ellora Caves gets our nod over Ajanta, and the Kailash Temple is clearly the highlight at Ellora.
